Favourite Fictional Characters

Hi! Here are SOME of my favourite fictional characters that I’ve come across through the years. Please feel free to comment agreeing or disagreeing with me, or share your own favourite characters! Going to try and keep it short because there’s a lot of characters!

Brekker’s hands were stained with blood. Brekker’s hands were covered in scars. Brekker had claws and not fingers because he was part demon. Brekker’s touch burned like a brimstone—a single brush of his bare skin caused your flesh to wither and die.

Leigh Bardugo, Six of Crows

Kaz Brekker, Six of Crows

Kaz Brekker is hands down the scariest guy in all the books I’ve ever read. Anyways, surprise surprise I love him. I don’t know what it is about Kaz, because he’s not even secretive about the bad things he does, but I guess I always think about everything he’s been through. He does have a sweet side, and it’s clear he has a weakness – Inej of course. Also, he has a super funny way of going about everything, and can easily outsmart people.

It’s Coraline, not Caroline. Coraline.

Coraline, Coraline

Coraline, Coraline

Coraline is one of those characters who I just want to be – not forever of course, but just for a day. I love the idea that magic and other worlds can exist, and even though Coraline is neglected at home and terrified in her “other home”, the adventure draws me in. She is so brave, stubborn, and witty, and I just really admire her character.

Now if you two don’t mind, I’m going to bed before either of you come up with another clever idea to get us killed – or worse, expelled.

Hermione Granger, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone

Hermione Granger, Harry Potter

Hermione is such an intelligent, loyal, compassionate, and badass person. She cares so much for Harry and Ron, and of course the mistreated house elves. Also, Harry and Ron would definitely be dead in their first year at Hogwarts if not for Hermione.

Oh how I wish someone other than J.K Rowling wrote these books…

‘Do you ever get scared? Or are you too badass for that?’

He looked amused, but also like a badass, sitting quietly and efficiently behind the wheel of the car.

Maggie Stiefvater, Blue Lily, Lily Blue

The Gray Man, The Raven Cycle

I have to admit it’s been a while since I read The Raven Cycle so I don’t remember too much about Gray, except that I absolutely loved him. It means so much more to me when a character is heading towards the antagonist path and they turn right around and become one of your favourite characters; this happens to Gray when he meets Blue Sargent’s mother Maura. He’s another super loyal man, and becomes the guy who would do anything for Blue, the boys, and Maura.

The world doesn’t give you things, you take things. If you learn one thing from me, it should probably be that.

Evelyn Hugo, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo

Evelyn Hugo, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo

(this picture just reminded me of the book). Oh Evelyn…she made me cry soooooo many times during this book. Evelyn Hugo has been through so much, and yet could never really be herself. She is incredibly courageous, and I loved her at every age. This is probably my favourite book ever.

Because I know you, Percy Jackson. In many ways, you are impulsive, but when it comes to your friends, you are as constant as a compass needle. You are unswervingly loyal, and you inspire loyalty. You are the glue that will unite the seven.

Rick Riordan, The Son of Neptune

Percy Jackson, Percy Jackson

Please forgive me Rick for using a picture from the movie, I know you hate the movie adaptations.

What can I say about Percy? He’s just such a pure soul…he will do literally anything for his friends – even go to hell and back ;). This is his fatal flaw and he knows it, and still he never wavers.

It’s not my job to make you feel like a man. I can’t make you something you’re not.

Astrid Leong, Crazy Rich Asians

Astrid Leong, Crazy Rich Asians

(I think this is a quote from the movie, but I obviously had to use this quote)

Okay Astrid Leong is the coolest girl I’ve ever read about. She is effortlessly stylish, and is always the talk of everyone. While everyone else is wearing big brands, Astrid sometimes shows up in a dress from Zara and is still the best-dressed. She never cares about what people think of her and is not walked over.

I am being perfectly fucking civil.

Ronan Lynch, The Dream Thieves

Ronan Lynch, The Raven Cycle / Call down the Hawk

I think Ronan is probably my favourite character ever. Maggie Stiefvater introduced me to him back in 2016, and it was the first time I ever met a character like him (with the constant swearing and everything). He was a mess among boys who were always prim and proper at Aglionby Academy, but nonetheless he was my favourite. I never get bored of reading about Ronan, so when Maggie announced she was releasing a Ronan trilogy, I was overcome with excitement. Ronan’s ability to pull things from his dreams – including people – also really attracted me to him, because it was obvious from the beginning that there was something remarkable about him.

Kill me. If you’ve ever been my friend, kill me.

Newt, The Death Cure

Newt, The Maze Runner

🙁 Newt is the sweetest boy ever, and completely undeserving of his fate. His character just made me feel so much, and I was absolutely destroyed by his death in The Death Cure. It hurt even more because James Dashner thought it would be a good idea to make Tommy do it, and Tommy and Newt shared such an unbreakable bond throughout the series.

In that moment, Blue was a little in love with all of them. Their magic. Their quest. Their awfulness and strangeness. Her raven boys.

Maggie Stiefvater, The Dream Thieves

Blue Sargent, The Raven Cycle

Here’s another character who I want to be for a day – maybe longer. Blue has such a magic-filled life that I so envy, and her relationship with her raven boys is something I could only dream of, no pun intended (if you know you know). She lives in a world – and a family – completely immersed in magic and physic abilities, and yet Blue is the only one who is “ordinary”, so of course she longs for her own sense of magic. I love Blue.

Sometimes it seems like everyone knows who I am except me.

Simon Spier, Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda

Simon Spier, Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda

Simon Spier is wholesome. He’s the type of guy who you never want to see get hurt – which of course happens several times in the book. I adore this guy and I want the best for him. Enough said.

Hope you enjoyed the featured image, it’s one of my own! 🙂
